great event, but everything hurt from mile 22! To be honest it was more painful to stop so zipped up (wo)man suit and carried on!
All about running. By runners, for runners.
9.0 Long solo 18 miles today, route was boring as anything but the high points were: the early thoughts of extending the run by an extra mile (well why not), hearing my destination mentioned on marathon talk “Helen was off toe Stafford”(oh I wonder what she was doing there?), trying not to look at all the road kill in my path (don’t look, eeewww, told you not to look), thinking that a treadmill run was preferable to running into the headwind on a steep at 12 miles (pfftt), the realization that adding an extra mile on the end was foolish talk and that I might just need a sit down shower myself after this run (ouch ouch ouch)
In short: Good, tough and great all in one. Beat london by 15 minutes but didn't make good for age
In full: 1st I thought I had forgotten my trainers but had them, then my number but had that...This morning I found out what I had forgotten my sports bra :( 26.2 in a wonder bra is not a good idea!!!! Ouchy
In short: Good but a little over crowded in places but still a great 1st marathon!
In full: I had a dream that I wanted to do sub 3:50 for GFA but it slipped away with the crowds and the heat, then there was a sub 4 hour but again that slipped way but happy all the same. As it is my 1st it is a PB after all
8.0 Looking forward to heading out on my long solo run, after having a week out due to an illness, I was looking forward to logging a decent long run. The plan was 18 miles which would set me up nicely for Stafford 20 in two weeks, however at mile 4 I hit the deck in spectacular style, some how managing to involve both elbows , knees and hands and my nose and mouth , so I have knocked a point off for that and then the run ran short by a mile so lost another point for that. RICE for the afternoon now.
Not long to go now, everyone is doing great but don't forget to log your runs, I have noticed that a couple didn't log anything for the last week or so.... come guys I know you are running, so get them logged.
February we need to start adding the distance for your weekly long runs, now you have embedded running in to your routine you can think about the distance and maybe pushing yourself a little further than you have in the past.
Get them thinking caps and on and good luck everyone
In short: Great run lovely weather great organisation
In full: Personal Best!
Great race, very well organised, with great support and bargain race to to enter. The goodie bag was over flowing with : technical t shirt, medal, ASICIS sweatband, water, mars bar, 6 muller corners, sausages rolls or pork pies and a ginger breadman!! all for £12:50
In short: Managed to put stafford behind me! and managed 3 hours
In full: Awful weather wet and windy was an understatement however it was a nice route and the marshals were fantastic very encouraging considering how cold they must have been. Would love to do it again but preferably in better weather
