I thought I heard him say that he was 11 in 1980 but on relistening I think he said 7. I guess he really was born in 1973.
    It's about 1:06:30 in.

I logged on to iTunes to download my weekly dose of MT and when I saw who the interviewer was, I might have sworn a bit. What a coup! Not suprisingly, he turned out to be a great interviewee!

By which I mean "interviewee." I wasn't surprised about the interviewer, although, of course, always pleased for another brilliant podcast from Martin & Tom.

Fantastic getting Haile Gebrselassie on the show. Just a shame I couldn't understand what he said :-(

    Matt East Says:

Some of it took a re-listen but it was ok for me, just don't have anything going on in the background it's all good. My Swahili is a lot worse than his English so I'm not going to comment otherwise! :)

Enjoyed haille, but seriously worried about tony stretching and core stability, sent a shudder through the marathon talk community. Please tell me it was for comedic effect.

    Of course it was ;-)

After all that talk about about how brilliant the runners are in E10, and how beneficial the running is there, I've booked a ticket to Leytonstone to find out for myself.

Brilliant, took a while for the penny to drop but that's quite a good gag Anthony! Perhaps Dave Bedford could move the VLM HQ to Leytonstone :)

Thanks, actually I'm surprised no-one else thought of it first. Or maybe they did and decided it was too rubbish to post!!

Loved it when he said that you have got to respect the marathon - a bit different when it comes from the great man!!

This showaas a whole was the best there has been yet (I am a relatively recent convert). Some parts were difficult to hear, though that could have been the breeze across the fields near Selby!).

Anyway looking forward to hearing from Paul Evans - I've seen him speak, and he is an interesting guy. Brilliant getting Gebrselassie though, he is just stunning.

My favourite quote from Haile though, 'who doesn't like running?' in a perplexed way! Though good to hear it isn't just me who has the mental battle (which is harder!)

Discipline, commitment and hard work with discipline underpinning commitment and hard work...finding this inspirational as HG emphasised this applies to everything not just running

Haile may have a sub 2:04 best when it comes to the Marathon but he still couldn't beat me over the same distance at the London Marathon in 2007.

Ok... he may have DNF'd, but i still beat him. :-)
