In 1982 Dave Moorcroft smashed the World 5,000m record out of sight, in the 30 years since then no non-African runner has achieved the same! Mo did however just break the British half marathon record, it was the Tokyo Marathon and Martin spoke to Adam Eason about developing the running mind.

  1. Hi guys I've emailed you before but not sure its got through. My name is Michelle and I work for ASDA. This coming September I'm doing the Bacchus Marathon in Dorking Surrey for The Childrens Trust. ASDA have said they may add extra to my fundraising should I get a mention on your show!!! I feel this would be a great motivation for me to train and achieve come September. Please note I'm currently listening to back issues and am just coming up to the Olympics so please let me know if this is possible so that I can let them know I've got a mention. Thanks, Michelle

Just listened to half the show - loving the talk of self talk and getting the inner voice right. We need some mantra talk. One of my favs is to repeat very slowly, with some slow coining to 5 in between '' looking good, feeling good. Looking up, feeling up. ' and it also reminds me to look up and get posture right at the difficult miles beyond 18+ .

Power of the Mind. . .Self Hypnosis. . . I have three words for that - "Sammy The Wedge"!! That would have fit in very well with that talk. I did smile on my long run with the wind blowing the snow sideways.
Think it would be a great idea just to bring up Sammy the Wedge again and his mantras :o)
