Hi guys, i've enjoyed listening to your podcasts while I'm out doing my long runs on a Sunday morning. I'm training for this year's London Marathon. I was a little alarmed by the item recommending buying new trainers more frequently according to your weight. I'm over 90kg so it sounds like I should be getting a new pair every month!!

Hi Jeff, wear and tear is much better indicator! Simple rule, if your trainers are worn and you have flat smooth spots on the treads/soles it's definately time to replace! Good luck with your training and keep listening!

enjoying your podcast. running edinburgh in May so good to get some advice from like minded people!
i was a bit disappointed when i read the physios ' 9 steps to avoiding injury' and he talks about attending physio for biomechanical problems such as overpronation and limb length problems, that he didnt mention getting a podiatrists opinion as well. you may have guessed i am a podiatrist specialising in biomechanics and i work closely with physios, however we both believe we have our expertise in certain areas and the above mentioned ones i feel, are definately podiatry territory (not to say a physio would give poor advice)
another thing, would quite like to hear your opinion on barefoot/minimalist running. the press have gotten hold of some quotes from Dr Leiberman out of Harvard and (in my opinion) misinterpreted them as meaning unshod running is the way forward. i can send you some links to this if you like ( or you could youtube 'nature journal article barefoot running')
anyway keep up the good work.
cheers
john

loved the show. Great information. The Physio was right on the mark with the core work and hip flexor tightness. I had several bouts of hip pain, leg pain and sciatica before I found a Physio to give me a good regimen for core work and another to show me the importance of hip flexor flexibility.
