Come on, guys - it's Marathon Talk, not 100m talk! One 11-miler today morning and that's it, waiting for the next episode :(

But great, as usual - no doubt here! :)

  2. Great show as always!

I'm pretty sure that the runner did mean cheesesteak, not cheesecake, as his post-Philly food though:

Can't wait for the 100th episode!

Claire's aqua running was interesting. I use a floatation belt and have only tried it without a belt a couple of times. I find without a belt that my feet flap too much and my running style is different. I might try it again though soon. I wondered how many cycles (cadence) Claire does per minute. I find it hard to do about 70 - 80 cycles per minute. Does any one else do aqua running and how do they measure their effort?

    Claire Hallissey Says:

I'm afraid that I don't track my cadence when aqua jogging although I do know that it is fairly high, although I do also have a fairly high cadence when running properly. I just measure my effort by feel, trying to make it hurt as much or preferably more than the equivalent session on land!

One of my fellow runners in Virginia has a lot of interesting musings about pool running posted on her blog, including thoughts on simulating tempo and track sessions in the pool. She also discusses the belt/no-belt conundrum! http://wellimtryingtorun.blogspot.com/2010/01/pool-running-posts-listed-by-category.html

I haven't finished listening to this podcast yet but have visited the above blog suggested by Claire Hallissey and would highly recommend it to anyone attempting pool running. Heaps of information and very reassuring to me as I've always wondered whether I was doing it correctly!

Thanks for the link Claire. The website is great and I'm glad I've stuck at pool running for a while now.
